A simple diagram of the RCS computer network is shown above. There are four (4) major components
- Public gateway (Pawikan) - contains a public IP address and the main gateway for remote access.
- Workstations - desktop computers pre-assigned to RCS researchers. More details are provided in the Computers tab.
- Compute Servers - machines dedicated for high performance and large computation such as numerical weather prediction (NWP) and regional climate model (RCM) simulations (e.g. WRF, RegCM)
- Data Servers - data platform for storage of commonly used datasets for weather and climate research. These can include but are not limited to station and gridded observation data, reanalysis datasets, global climate model (GCM) and RCM output
You must have a valid user account to access the RCS computer network. You can request one from the RCS Admin subject to the approval of the RCS Laboratory Head.
